The names are respectively IG Group (IGG), which had a Pre Close update, Aberdeen Asset Management (ADN) who announced their finals and Kingston Communications (KCOM) with interims. So I'll have a quick look at those in today's post.

Well it is that time of year again, thanks giving in the USA and we have to thank them for giving us the horrible Black Friday import. I was amused to see this year that Asda (owned by Walmart) had decided not to do a Black Friday event this year.
Any way if you are not taken by all the fake offers and have some cash left to invest, I have updated the Compound Income Scores today should you want to go shopping for bargains in the stock market. They are on special offer as it is Black Friday - you can get them for free instead of er free - yes now that seems like one of those "genuine" Black Friday offers - perhaps I should be putting the price up as it is Black Friday like some of the other retailers out there. Not much news around today but there was an announcement yesterday from Alliance Pharma (APH) which was previously held in the CIS portfolio. This was a significant acquisition by them (which is something they have been looking to do) and there was a placing to fund it, which has brought the shares back, so it might be worth delving into the detail of that as they say it should be earnings enhancing and it Scores 90 on the CIS again. That's all for this week, be back next week with a month end update on the CIS portfolio and some other stuff no doubt. Have a nice day as they say in the USA and a great weekend whatever you are up to. Paypoint (PAY) - the £600m+ market cap company who have reported Interim results today. This one was purchased for the portfolio back in July this year and has been flat in price terms since then, although the broader market has been down about 4% since then. So lets see how today's figure measure up and if Mr. Market has seen fit to offer a buying opportunity.
Had to check the calendar today to make sure it wasn't Thursday as there were so many results and announcements. Any way the ones that featured from stocks I have mentioned in the past were - Cineworld, which I trailered yesterday, Rolls Royce and Hill and Smith. While yesterday I caught up with the webcast of the Equity Development meeting with Matchtec and I include a few thoughts on that at the end of today's news.
As you may or may not have heard there is apparently a new series of Star Wars films coming out, but I'm not sure what they should be called postquel may be? Any way I'm no great fan of the series as I can honestly say I don't think I have ever sat through a single film of the whole series so far, so why mention it?
Well it seems that according to reports the latest film could break records for advanced sales and this together with other blockbusters this year such as the latest Bond film should augur well for cinema attendances. This expectation is backed up by improving consumer incomes in the UK and therefore suggests that this should be a bumper year for cinema operators. |
